2016 marks the 13th year of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

In 2004, under leadership from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance, National Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) was created. Following a proclimation from The President of United States, October became the official month to celebrate NCSAM. Today, it has grown exponentially, reaching corporations, consumers, businesses, educational institutions and young people across the nation and beyond.

During the month, the Department and NCSA reaches out to individuals to provide them with tips and to raise awareness about cybersecurity.
