We are the Mental Health Service Corps

The Mental Health Service Corps (MHSC) is a bold initiative launched in 2015 to recruit, train, and integrate more than 300 early-career behavioral health clinicians in health care practices in the diverse neighborhoods of New York City. Our clinicians serve in MHSC for three years, earning valuable clinical experience while receiving ongoing training in evidence-based practices under an innovative structured-supervision model.

Are you a recent graduate or early-career social worker, mental health counselor, or psychologist? Do you want to have a profound impact in the community where you serve? Are you eager to bring high-quality behavioral health care to New Yorkers who have done without it for too long?
JOIN THE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE CORPS!

Are you a health care practice that would like to make low- or no-cost behavioral health care available to your patients? Do you want to provide integrated care to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the community where you practice? Are you already providing behavioral health care and want to expand your capacity?
BECOME A MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE CORPS SITE!

The Mental Health Service Corps is a key initiative of Thrive NYC, a comprehensive public health approach to mental health designed to promote and protect the wellbeing of all New Yorkers. MHSC is overseen by New York City’s Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, which funds the program through a grant to the Research Foundation of CUNY.
