Medical Laboratory Sciences Program


The Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program was founded in 1970 as an undergraduate major of the Institute of Health Sciences.

The MLS mission is to educate entry level laboratory professionals to accept positions in the wide range of health related laboratories in the New York area. These include:

  • hospital and private diagnostic labs
  • academic research laboratories
  • pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies


Registration advisement for new MLS majors for the Spring 2020 semester will take place on the dates listed below. This includes students who entered the major in a prior semester but have not yet begun to take MLS classes. Students currently enrolled in MLS classes should NOT attend these sessions, but follow listmail and posted instructions. Advisement will take place at the Brookdale Campus (425 E. 25th Street), West Building, 7th floor, room 700A:

Friday, November 15, 2019, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Thursday, November 21, 2019, 2:00pm-4:00pm
Friday, December 6, 2019, 10:00am-12:00pm

MLS offers an Advanced Certificate in Cytotechnology in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). The application deadline for Fall 2020 admission is April 1st, 2020. For application details, please visit Hunter College's Graduate Admissions here.
