How to Apply

To apply to the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program both transfer and current Hunter students must complete a Transfer Application with the CUNY University Application Processing Center.

Admissions take place on a rolling basis so apply as early as possible. Admission deadlines and requirements are shown below. To apply, click here and select On-Line Application from the choices. Be sure to select "Medical Laboratory Sciences" at Hunter College as your choice of curriculum.

Fall application deadline: February 1st
Spring application deadline: September 15

Admission Requirements:  

  • 2.5 minimum Grade Point Average is required
  • Students must have at least 60 credits
  • Students must have passed the following courses:
    1 year of General Chemistry w/lab (Chem 102-4-6 or equiv.)
    1 year of General Biology w/lab (Bio 100-2 or equiv.)

Once accepted to the program, students will receive a letter from UAPC. New Students must attend course registration/advising sessions prior to the start of their first semester. The dates and times for these sessions, which occur at the end of each semester during registration periods, are listed on the MLS homepage.

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program, which is based, by necessity, on the limitations of space and resources. The Hunter College Medical Lab Sciences Program is dedicated to equal opportunity for all applicants who meet admission requirements.

Applications for matriculation in the Biomedical Laboratory Management (BLM) for the Fall 2013 semester are now closed. However, students who may wish to be considered for one semester of non-degree status prior to formal application should contact Dr. Robert Raffaniello by email (rraffani@hunter.cuny.edu) as soon as possible.

Applications for the Advanced Certificate in Medical Technology (AC) for Fall 2013 are now closed. There is no non-matriculated status for the AC program.
