Important Application Information

CUNY Curriculum code: 0344
Fall application deadline: February 1st
Spring application deadline: September 15

Admission Requirements:

Admission to the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is competitive. At present, about 25 students are admitted in the fall and spring semesters (total of about 50 annually). Since more eligible students apply than can be admitted, no one is guaranteed a seat in the program. To be eligible a student must have a cumulative gpa of at least 2.5. However, in recent semesters the average gpa of admitted students has been 3.3.

  • 2.5 minimum Grade Point Average is required
  • Students must have at least 60 credits
  • Students must have a grade of C or better in the following courses:
1 year of General Chemistry for science majors with lab (Chem 102-4-6 or equivalent). Note: this requirement cannot be substituted by Chemistry for non-science majors, such as CHEM 100/101 and/or CHEM 120/121 or their equivalent.
1 year of General Biology for science majors with lab (Bio 100-2 or equivalent). Note: this requirement cannot be substituted by Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 120/122 or their equivalent).

If you need assistance with the application process, contact Hunter College Admissions at (212) 772-4490 or visit their website here. You may also email Dr. Steven Einheber (seinhebe@hunter.cuny.edu) or Dr. Abigail Rodriguez-Morales (ar4835@hunter.cuny.edu) to review your record and give you advice about preparing to enter the program.

Once accepted to the program, students will receive a letter from UAPC. New Students must attend course registration/advising sessions prior to the start of their first semester. The dates and times for these sessions, which occur at the end of each semester during registration periods, are listed on the MLS homepage.

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program, which is based, by necessity, on the limitations of space and resources. The Hunter College Medical Lab Sciences Program is dedicated to equal opportunity for all applicants who meet admission requirements.
