Muse Scholar will be Honored as Top Salutatorian at Winter Commencement

Muse Scholar Rebecca Ahamad (Class of '17) is graduating a semester early and will be honored as top salutatorian at Winter Commencement, which will be held on January 19, 2017. A talented creative writer and English Literature major, Rebecca plans to pursue an MA in teaching English as a second language after graduating.

Rebecca has a passion for working with children and has already begun preparing for a career in children's education. She worked as a teaching assistant at the Science, Mathematics & Aerospace academy, taught children Sunday school at the Christian Community Fellowship Church, and worked as a summer youth counselor at PS/IS266. An ambitious and dedicated student who has maintained a near-perfect GPA while at Hunter, Rebecca has found her calling through a combination of academic excellence and work experience outside the classroom.

CommencementThough the Muse Scholar program began just six years ago, two valedictorians and one top salutatorian have graduated from the program since then. Dara Meyers-Kingsley, Director of the Muse Scholar Program who teaches a year-long course for all freshman Muse Scholars, has built a community of brilliant, inspired students who shine- not only within the Muse Scholar program, but within CUNY Hunter College as a whole.

Congratulations, Rebecca, and thank you for being an inspiration to your fellow Muse Scholars. We are very proud of you!
