Reuben Blundell conducts the orchestra in the City University of New York’s distinguished Hunter College. With the Hunter Symphony, he has launched new-music programs, worked with choreographers and museums, and raised the orchestra’s profile through performances in non-traditional spaces. He also directs Chamber Music, and teaches conducting, violin and viola.

In October 2012, Blundell won a position on the conductor roster with the Chelsea Symphony in NYC.  Soon after, he was invited to the renowned New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, as a guest conductor in their John Cage festival, led by Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas. In the 2012-13 season, he also served as guest conductor with Philadelphia’s Lansdowne Symphony, and guest conducted some rehearsals with the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra and New York Doctor’s Orchestra. He also serves as Principal conductor with the Leora Chamber Orchestra.

Blundell is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (DMA in Conducting, 2010), where he studied with Professor Neil Varon.  At Eastman, he also studied violin with Professor Zvi Zeitlin, and performed as a member of the highly selective Graduate Chamber Music Society. As a violinist, he has performed solo with the Melbourne Symphony, and he attended the world-famous Tanglewood Music Center as a fellow in 2002 and 2003, and was a conducting student at the Pierre Monteux School in Summers 2005 & 2006.  In 2005, Blundell performed in the NHK World Youth Orchestra’s commemorative concerts in Peace Park, Hiroshima and Urakami Cathedral, Nagasaki.  During a violin Fellowship with the New World Symphony (2003-05), he served as concertmaster for conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Oliver Knussen and Sir Neville Marriner.
