Victor V. Bobetsky, a former music teacher in the New York City Schools, was named "Educator of the Year" by the Association of Teachers of New York. He served as a school district music education administrator and supervisor for over twelve years before coming to Hunter College. Professor Bobetsky's areas of specialization include supervision of student teachers, curriculum development and arranging music of diverse cultures for school age voices. He is the author of The Magic of Middle School Musicals: Inspire Your Students to Learn, Grow and Succeed (Rowman and Littlefield, 2009). Professor Bobetsky's choral arrangements are published by Boosey and Hawkes, Cambiata Press, GIA Publications, Hinshaw Music and Musica Russica. His articles have been published in Music Educators Journal, Teaching Music, Choral Journal, and European Music Educators Association Journal. He has presented numerous workshops for a variety of professional organizations including the National Association for Music Education (MENC), The New York State School Music Association, The American Choral Directors Association, and the Music Educators Association of New York City. Professor Bobetsky has appeared as guest conductor and clinician for All-County elementary and middle school choruses in New York City and in Putnam County (NY). Professor Bobetsky designed and created a course, Piano Skills for Music Teachers which is now part of the Music Education curriculum at Hunter College. He also teaches piano privately, with a specialty in helping teachers acquire the piano skills they need to be successful in the classroom. He performs frequently as a guest organist at churches and temples in the New York metropolitan area. Professor Bobetsky received his B.A in Music summa cum laude from Brooklyn College, his M.A. in music summa cum laude from Hunter College and his D.M.A. summa cum laude from the University of Miami's School of Music. He studied education and supervision at Teachers College (Columbia University) and at Westminster Choir College.
