Professor Burke is a specialist in music of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and has written papers on Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev. He is also interested in opera and is a regular contributor to Opera News and Fanfare. As a composer, he has written for film, theater, and television.
