Victor V. Bobetsky, a former music
teacher in the New York City Schools, was named “Educator
of the Year” by the Association of Teachers
of New York. He served as a school district music
education administrator and supervisor for over twelve
years before coming to Hunter College. Professor Bobetsky’s
areas of specialization include supervision of student
teachers, curriculum development and arranging music
of diverse cultures for school age voices. His arrangements
are published by Boosey and Hawkes, Cambiata Press,
GIA Publications and Musica Russica. Professor Bobetsky’s
articles have been published in Music Educators Journal,
Teaching Music, Choral Journal, and European Music
Educators Association Journal. He is a frequent presenter
at meetings of the National Association for Music
Education (MENC). Professor Bobetsky received his
M.A. in music from Hunter College and his D.M.A. from
the University of Miami’s School of Music. He
studied education and supervision at Teachers College
(Columbia University) and at Westminster Choir College.
Professor Bobetsky is also a piano teacher and organist.
