(New York) – The Hunter College Dance Department has announced its 3rd Annual Sharing the Legacy Dance Concerts on April 7th and April 8th at 8pm at the Kaye Playhouse. The program for the two concerts includes historic dance works performed by students from 10 different college dance departments from across the country.

This year’s exciting line up includes performances of José Limón’s The Waldstein Sonata (Hunter College dancers), George Balanchine’s Tarantella (University of South Carolina dancers), and Merce Cunningham’s Changing Steps (NYU Tisch School dancers). The Hunter College Sharing the Legacy Concert provides a unique opportunity to revisit the work of choreographers who have influenced the course of dance in the U.S.

Other colleges participating in the concert are East Carolina University; Mercyhurst College; Northwestern University; Purchase College, SUNY; Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania; University of the Arts; and University of California, Santa Barbara.

In addition to performances, Sharing the Legacy 2006 also includes two days of master classes in various techniques as well as a panel discussion moderated by Sally Sommer with panelists Gia Kourlas, John Jasperse, Carla Peterson, Bill Young and Christalyn Wright. The keynote address will be presented by Urban Bushwomen founder Jawole Willa Jo Zollar.

Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults; $10 for non-Hunter students and seniors; and free for Hunter College students. For more information and tickets, please call the Kaye Box Office at (212) 772-4448.
