DNP Program at Hunter College
On May 17, 2011, the Board of Regents of the State of NY authorized Hunter College to confer the Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) degree. As a result, we are offering qualified students the opportunity to enroll in the DNP program. There are four tracts available:
- Adult/Gerontological DNP
- Psychiatric/Mental Health DNP
- Family Nurse Practitioner DNP
- Community/Public Health Nursing DNP
Each of the programs is TAP and VVTA Eligible. As of Summer 2012 the FNP DNP is not yet open, the other three programs are open. Each of these programs are post-BSN DNP programs, post-masters DNP versions are now being developed.
The DNP program at Hunter College is open for full-time or part-time study. The full-time program is 12 credits per semester for 4 years; the part-time program is 18 credits per year, for 5 years. All four programs are 90 credits and 1000 clinical hours. Applicants to the DNP need to have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher, a distinct undergraduate nursing research course and introduction to statistics. We also require the GRE (Graduate Record Examination), satisfactory scores are required. A formal admissions interview is also required.
We can evaluate a student copy of the scores and transcripts but Graduate Admissions will require official copies. If you would like additional information or have any questions please feel free to call Dr. Baumann at call 212-481-4457 or email him at sbaumann@hunter.cuny.edu
