DNP Program at Hunter College

 

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) is offered to nurses with a baccalaureate or master's degree in nursing, there are four tracts approved by New York State:

  • Adult/Gerontological DNP
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health DNP
  • Family Nurse Practitioner DNP
  • Community/Public Health Nursing DNP


Financial aid may be available. ·The FNP DNP is not yet open, but the three other tracks are. Each of these programs are designed as post-BSN DNP programs, post-masters DNP versions have been developed and are pending final approval, please feel free to call for updated information.


The DNP program at Hunter College is open for full-time or part-time study. The full-time program is 12 credits per semester for 4 years, no summers or 9 credits with at least one summer course; the part-time program is 18 credits per year, for 5 years. All four programs are 90 credits and 1000 clinical hours. Applicants to the DNP need to have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher, a distinct undergraduate nursing research course and introduction to statistics. We also require the GRE (Graduate Record Examination), satisfactory scores are required. A formal admissions interview is also required.


We can evaluate a student copy of the scores and transcripts but Graduate Admissions will require official copies. ·
