MS Admission Requirements

 

Comparison of CNL, CNS, MS/MPA, and MS/MPH programs.

Adult Health Nursing Clinical Nurse Specialist - The program prepares nurses for advanced practice positions in medical­surgical specialties within acute care or community­-based nursing services.

Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) - The program prepares nurses to assume a Clinical Nurse Leader role in a variety of health care settings, from acute care to home care.

Community/Public Health Nursing - This program prepares nurses to assume leadership roles in community health nursing in a variety of health care settings including home-care, public health, community-based agencies. This program in community/public health nursing leading to a Master of Science degree in Nursing and a dual degree option which consists of a Masters in Nursing and a Masters in Public Health (MS/MPH).

Community/Public Health Nursing/Urban Public Health (MS/MPH) - This program prepares nurses to assume leadership roles in community/public health nursing in a variety of settings including home care, public health, and community-based agencies. 

Gerontological/Adult Nurse Practitioner - This specialization prepares nurses to assume a leadership role in primary care for adults and older adults in the community and in a variety of health care settings.

Nursing Administration/Public Administration - The program prepares nurses to assume positions of leadership in nursing in a variety of health care settings both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors including acute care, home care, public health and community-based agencies.

Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner- The program prepares nurses to assume an independent and autonomous role in psychiatric nursing and primary care for mentally ill populations in the community and a variety of health care settings.

Post Master's Certificates

Post Master's Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Advanced Certificate Program - This program prepares nurses to assume an advanced practice nursing role in a variety of community as well as institutional settings, in private practice, and in such fields as liaison nursing and hospice care.

Post-Masters Advanced Certificate in Nursing Education - The program prepares nurses for beginning positions as educators in both academic settings and health care agencies.
