Please join me in extending congratulations to Ms. Akosua Abankwa who is the 2009 Student Diversity Mentorship Award winner from the national Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC).
This national recognition and scholarship award is provided to a registered nurse pursuing graduate studies with an emphasis in HIV/AIDS. Ms. Abankwa will be provided a nurse mentor through ANAC who will help guide, support and enhance her professional development.
Ms. Akosua Abankwa began her professional career at North General in 2003 on the medical-surgical service. She currently provides nursing care to patients in the Department of Special Services. She is currently enrolled in the master’s degree program at Hunter College School of Nursing pursing a clinical specialist degree in HIV. She is an active member of the NYC Chapter of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
Ms. Abankwa will be honored and receive her award at ANAC’s annual conference, November 19-22, 2009 in Jacksonville Florida .
