Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency at VA Medical Center

Hunter College School of Nursing is honored to partner with the VA Medical Center’s Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency (PBNR) program. The PBNR program assists novice nurses in their transition to practice with the guidance of experienced preceptors and mentors. The RN Residents will have the opportunity to rotate at the Brooklyn and Manhattan Campuses during the residency. VA New York Harbor has 6 positions available for this program. This is a wonderful opportunity and we strongly encourage our students to apply. This program is for Senior level students.

Application Process

  • Current resume/CV, including graduation date
  • Two letters of reference from clinical faculty and one personal reference
  • Unofficial transcript (Official transcripts are required upon acceptance to the program), which must contain the applicant’s name
  • Essay (500 words) describing your nursing career goals and why you are interested in working with Veterans

Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm
