is part of the Intra/Interagency Collaborations Team that is responsible
for fulfilling the regulations of the Reading First legislation
under the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition, the Intra/Interagency
Team is responsible to coordinate professional development training
on the New York State Learning Standards for Schools Under Registration
Review (SURR); implement the School Quality Review Initiative; conduct
external site reviews; and develop partnerships with agencies and
community-based organizations, which support initiatives to close
the achievement gap. Responsibilities for this position include,
but are not limited to, the following:• Provide leadership
to school districts on the Reading First initiative in consultation
with other education offices on improving early literacy in kindergarten
through grade three and ensure that the curriculum in the schools
is consistent with scientifically-based reading research;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be reachable for a permanent
appointment on the Civil Service list for Associate in English Language
Arts or eligible for transfer. In the event the eligible list is
exhausted, a provisional appointment may be made pending a new Civil
Service examination. To qualify for a provisional appointment, candidates
must have a Master’s degree AND permanent or professional
New York State certification in Childhood Education 1-6 AND five
years of certified teaching experience in Childhood Education 1-6.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $82,547 based on annual performances
advances.
**There is also a $1302 annual location differential for this position.
