INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY

This course examines some of the core problems of philosophy, and the solutions that have been given to them. We will consider such questions as whether we can really know anything, what the nature of reality is, what it means to be conscious, and whether or not we have free will. The course offers a basic grounding in some of the main areas of philosophy, as well as developing critical analysis skills.

The text we will be using is Introduction to Philosophy: Classical and Contemporary Readings, Fourth Edition, edited by John Perry, Michael Bratman and John Martin Fischer. ISBN: 978-0195169249.
