PHILO 106, Sec. 001 -- MTWTh 11:40-1:18pm

Philosophy, Politics, & Society (6 weeks from 1 June to 9 July 2009) Instructor: Prof. Steven Ross

The course is a general introduction to political theory through classical (e.g. Hobbes, Rousseau, Locke) and modern (e.g., Mill, Rawls, Nozick) writers. Students may if they wish read the relevant materials without purchasing the anthology and by acquiring the relevant primary sources instead – details will be provided in the course.

Texts: Political Philosophy: the Essential Texts, edited by Steven Cahn, and On Liberty by J.S. Mill.
