Independent Study
Students may engage in independent study under the supervision of a member of the Philosophy Department by receiving permission to take PHILO 492.

Departmental Honors
To be eligible for graduation with departmental honors in philosophy, a major must have a 3.5 GPA in philosophy and a 2.7 overall GPA. The student must register for PHILO 494 and write a substantial paper under the direction of a faculty member. This honors essay will be judged both by the faculty member under whose direction the student is working and by the departmental Honors Committee.
