My name is George Zakusilo. I am currently a third year MD-PhD student and Hunter Alum. While I was at Hunter, it seems that while I actually got a great education it was not an easy task for me and other students to find a lab. My biggest problem was that I did not know how to approach Hunter College professors or how to appropriately craft an email to professors outside of Hunter College. Now being in seven labs total I think I have an idea of how to approach emailing and asking for a volunteering opportunity in the lab.

I would like to propose workshop sessions aimed specifically at freshmen and sophomores to go over the process of finding and joining the lab and help directly with editing and writing lab lists and/or emails. Joining me are MD-PhD students at NYC medical schools and fellow Hunter alums. We will share our experience and tips in order to guide current Hunter students throughout this process.
