Looking for a way to enhance your medical school application?

In our one-year Master of Arts in Bioethics program, offered through NYU's College of Global Public Health, students will work closely to gain valuable knowledge about contemporary ethical issues in health care and the biomedical sciences.

Students may enroll in the program as a standalone MA degree or in conjunction with with MD program offered through the NYU School of Medicine.

As demonstrated by our excellent track-record of medical school application success, graduates leave our program with a set of skills that are highly valued by medical schools today. In recent years, students from our program have been accepted to M.D. programs at the Mayo Clinic, Georgetown, SUNY Buffalo, Ben Gurion University, St. George's, Louisiana State University, and NYU, among others.

In medicine, complex computational tools will become essential for deriving personalized assessments of disease risk and management including individualized diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options. This change, involving the use and analysis of enormous quantities and variety of data, will require a new type of physician and a new type of biomedical scientist—one with a grasp of modern computational sciences, “-omic” technologies (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, transciptomics etc.), and a systems approach to medicine.

The new tools that clinicians and biomedical scientists will use continue to arise from the intersection of research across a variety of disciplines and are difficult to capture in traditional curricula. As a leader in medical science and education, Georgetown University Medical Center is taking a leadership role in developing graduate and medical curricula and expanding research in this area.

Learn about bioethics, clinical ethics, research ethics and more.
