Academic Standing
Students in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program are expected to maintain a 3.3 GPA each semester and receive no science or math grade below a B-. Students who do not meet this requirement may be put on probation or potentially dismissed from the program.
The Post-Baccalaureate Probation System
WARNING: If a student has over a 3.3 but had one grade below a B- or several W or CR/NC they are placed on academic warning. A student must meet all requirements the following semester or he/she will be placed on probation.
PROBATION: If a student has under a 3.3 AND/OR more than one grade below a B- they are placed on probation. Students who were previously on WARNING status who did not meet the minimum requirements are also placed on probation. To be taken off of PROBATION a student must earn a GPA of 3.3 and receive no grade below a B-. A student who does not meet the minimum requirement during their probationary semester will likely be dismissed from the program.
DISMISS: If a student has had a consistent (2 or more semesters) GPA below 3.3 he/she will be dismissed from the program. The student will still be eligible to take courses at Hunter College, but will no longer be part of the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program and will not receive priority registration privileges.
Taking a Leave of Absence
If you do not intend to take courses in any given semester please set up an appointment with Dr. Phillips for approval. A leave of absence will only be granted under extenuating circumstances and for only one semester. Anyone wishing to take time off for more than one semester will have to reapply. Any student who takes time off without prior approval will likely be placed on probation when they return.
