- July 28, Thursday OR August 4, Thursday (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.): Law School Application & Personal Statement Workshop. You need only attend one session. Students who attended the spring sessions need not attend, but are welcome if they would like a refresher or have questions. Room 1731 West. This session targets students applying to law school this cycle for entry into law school for fall 2012.
- August 23, New Student Day II Orientation Sessions. These sessions target Freshmen and incoming transfer students. For timing details, check your My Choice page or orientation materials. Room 604 West.
- August 31, Wednesday (1:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.): Undergraduate Planning for Law School. Wondering what classes to take, or what to major in if you have a pre-law interest? Come discuss this and more with Elise Jaffe, Hunter's pre-law advisor. We will review the elements of Hunter's Pre-Law Program, special opportunities and resources that may be of interest to you on the Hunter campus, and strategies for making the most of your time here at Hunter. - September 13, 20, 27, three consecutive Tuesdays (5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.): Creative Search Strategies for Pre-Law Internships and Other Resume Builders: 3-Part Tuesday Evening Workshop. A structured approach to critical thinking can be useful in a variety of contexts, in the courtroom, the boardroom, or the classroom. In this three-part workshop you will be introduced to the "OASIS" approach to problem solving, with specific attention to finding a summer job, useful volunteer work and/or internship, aligning your personal interests with a career in law. This program will be run by two former Citibank executives, who have used their critical thinking approach to help students and business professionals alike. You must e-mail the Pre-Law Advisory Office at prelaw@hunter.cuny.edu to indicate your intention to attend. Kindly note "internship workshop" in the subject line. Come meet the Pre-Law Society, the student club whose members are interested in gaining insight into areas of legal practice, sharing information about the law school application process and resources, and delving into legally-related issues of the day. - LatinoJustice PRLDEF, October 8, Saturday: Law Day at New York Law School185 West Broadway, NYC, from 10am to 4pm. The event is free but registrationis required. (Note: LatinoJustice PRLDEF’s Law Day is designed to assist and encourage Latino and other students of color in the pursuit of careers in law.)
- October 11, Monday (5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.): **How to Make the Most of the LSAC Recruitment Forum ** Discussion with Dean Lillie V. Wiley-Upshaw, Vice Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid, University at Buffalo Law School, about effective networking at the LSAC Forum coming up on October 14th at the NYC Hilton. Also a good opportunity to learn about Buffalo Law. Room 1130 East.

- LSAC, October 14, Friday: LSAC Forum at the New York City Hilton, 1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY. Meet at Student Services 1119E at 9:45 a.m. and head down to the Hilton with the Pre-Law Society for a special panel in anticipation of the event. (Event runs two days, Oct 14 & 15, but note that it is advantageous to attend Friday, when there is less foot traffic.) The event is free but registration is required. Questions to Ask at a Law School Fair This forum especially useful for alumni and Seniors applying for the 2011-12 cycle, or those planning to apply next year (Juniors, that means you!).

- October 17, Monday (5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.): **Admissions Panel** Law school admissions officers explain what you need to know to write a great application. Hear first-hand what the law schools are looking for, and have the chance to meet law school representatives from the New York City metropolitan area. This panel especially useful for alumni and Seniors applying for the 2011-12 cycle, or those planning to apply next year (Juniors, that means you!). Room 417 West.
- Kaplan, October 23, Sunday (10:30 a.m-Noon): LSAT Logic Games Workshop. Now that you have had a chance to take a mock exam, gain a bit of insight into logic games in this follow up workshop. Room 1729 West.

The event is free but registrationis required -- includes continental breakfast and lunch. (Note: The Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights and Economic Development strives to enhance the the pool of students of color going to law school.)
- November 14, Monday (5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.): **Financing Law School** Financial Aid Administrator Nicky Fornarotto from Rutgers Law School explains the nitty-gritty of funding your law school education. This session is a great planning tool for students at various levels in their undergraduate careers; plan to attend even if you are not applying to law school at this time. Also a good way to learn about Rutgers Law. Room 417 West.

- CLEO, November 19, 2010, Saturday: CLEO Super Saturday Pre-Law Seminars, for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors at Fordham Law School. The event is free but registrationis required -- see tabs on webpage on lower right side for various seminars targeted at students by college level. (Note: CLEO attempts to reach students from minority groups underrepresented in the legal profession. If you are not a minority student, you may participate if you are low-income, economically, or otherwise disadvantaged. See registration form at the link for details.)

- January 2012, Winter Intersession: Moot Court Class.Capped at 12 students and by permission only; admission is competitive. Be sure to e-mail prelaw@hunter.cuny.edu to express interest and to put your name on the waitlist during the fall term.

- February 2012: Fried Frank Diversity LSAT Initiative. Our extended, subsidized on-campus LSAT class kicks off at the beginning of the spring term; admission based on demonstrated law school interest, merit, and need. Be sure to e-mail prelaw@hunter.cuny.edu to express interest and to put your name on the waitlist during the fall term. Even if you will not be participating as a Fried Frank/Hunter Scholar, please do reach out to the pre-law advisor for assistance in planning your LSAT study plan, including the Pre Pro Bono Jumpstart weekend in April.
- February 6, Monday (5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.): **The Supreme Court View on GPS Privacy: Is Big Brother in Your Smart Phone??** Hazel Weiser, former director of the legal writing program for ten years at Touro law school, will analyze the recent Supreme Court case, U.S. v. Jones, and help students understand the legal analysis. How is it that the Justices arrived at a unanimous decision, but through a variety of analytical approaches? This will be a great discussion for those who seek information on the substantive issues, and will also offer insight into how to read and break down a legal decision. Room 417 West.

- February 17, Friday: DEADLINE for Resume Drop for Paid Summer Internships and Funding for Law-related Public Interest Internships. Be sure to e-mail prelaw@hunter.cuny.edu for instructions if you did not receive them through the listserv. REQUIRED interview preparation workshops will be held in March -- see below.
- February 23, Thursday (5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.): **Summer Internship and Interview Workshop** Discuss strategies for your internship search with attorneys from the prestigious law firm, Ropes & Gray. Pick up materials that have been compiled specifically to help you in your hunt for the perfect pre-law summer internship. Review resume basics and plan your interview strategy. Fellow students will also discuss internships that they have enjoyed. Room 417 West.

- March 5, Monday (5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.): **Law Students Discuss the "Real Deal" about Law School Success** Recent Hunter alumni -- now in law school at NYU, Georgetown, Fordham, Cardozo -- return to campus to share the "real deal" with Hunter undergrads. How tough is law school? What did they wish they knew before they got there? Get the answers to all YOUR questions in this interesting discussion. A big hit every year, and helpful for students at various levels in their undergraduate careers, who are looking for insight into the law school experience. Dinnertime snacks will be provided.
Room 417 West. - March 9-16 (multiple dates blow) Interview Preparation Workshops, REQUIRED for SIP Applicants! You will be considered for a SIP placement only if you participate in interview prep. Please attend in interview attire. You must come to one of these meetings, or make alternate arrangements with the pre-law advisor.

- March/April 2012: **Dean's Hours Spring Series: Brownbag Lunch with a Lawyer**. In a small group setting, speak with an attorney about his/her area of practice, career development, and insight into the profession. This event is directed at all pre-law students, regardless of level in their undergraduate careers. All brown bag lunches held in Room 819 East, 1:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

- April 4, Wednesday (Noon - 4): **Law School Class at Cardozo** At 11:45, meet in the main lobby of Cardozo Law School at 55 Fifth Avenue. We will have Chinese food lunch at noon, and then sit in on a law school class: Corporations, Evidence, Criminal Law, Contracts, or Property. Optional tour of the school after class. - Pre Pro Bono, Saturday & Sunday, April 14 & 15: LSAT Prep Jumpstart Weekend. FREE 16 Hour Intensive Weekend LSAT Prep, including networking with public interest attorneys, and admission advising from Hunter's Pre-Law Advisor. This event is great for students who plan to self-study, or who want to get exposure to the test before tackling a class this summer. Participation is free and on the Hunter campus, but registration is required. Please do not register unless you will participate in the program in its entirety. Join Carolyn Nelson, of Nelson Test Prep, for an introduction to thinking for the LSAT. Ms. Nelson will provide tips and strategies for freshmen and sophomores to build LSAT skills throughout one's college career, giving you an advantage at test time. - April 18, Wednesday (1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.): **LSAT FAIR and "Teach In"** Various commercial LSAT Prep providers will offer a "teach in", and provide students with a sense of their different styles and offerings. Sample presentations will be made by: Blueprint Prep, Kaplan, Powerscore, Princeton Review, Testmasters.lternative and self-study options will also be discussed. Participation will provide students priority to receive free prep materials from the Pre-Law Advising Office before the end of term. Room 424 West.

- April 30, Monday: **Careers in Law Day Party** Hunter's Careers in Law Day Party is an opportunity for Hunter Pre-Law students and recent alumni to mingle with successful attorneys in a fun, casual “cocktail party” environment (soft drinks only), making for easy discussion, and enabling students to gain insight into legal practice. We will also be celebrating the law school acceptances of graduating seniors and alumni — congratulations to our newly minted 1L’s!! Room 417 West.

Please attach your resume, including your gpa, and a brief note explaining why you are interested in this opportunity. Students accepted into the program will be introduced to their mentor in the fall.
