President's Fund for Faculty Advancement: Grant Writing Support Programs ***NEW***
In spring 2015, as part of the President's Fund for Faculty Advancement and to better support faculty seeking external funding for their research, scholarship and creative work, we are pleased to announce the following two new grant writing support programs. The First-Time Grant Writer's Program aims to increase the number and success of external grant applications for first-time grant writers. The Advanced Grant Writer's Program aims to increase the number and success of external grant applications from Hunter faculty who have previously submitted external grant proposals and seek help with revisions, redirections and building on existing work. Presidential Travel Award Program
The Presidential Travel Grant Award Program supports faculty participation in conferences and other research-related travel. George N. Shuster Faculty Fellowship Fund

The PSC-CUNY Research Award Program was established as a major vehicle for the University's encouragement and support for faculty research and to leverage external funding. It seeks to enhance the University's role as a research institution, further the professional growth and development of its faculty and provide support for both the established and the younger scholar. More information about the program may be obtained on the Research Foundation website. Deadline: Usually early December.
2015 Career Enhancement Fellowships for Junior Faculty
This program is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. The program seeks to increase the presence of minority junior faculty (African Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, and Native Americans and Native Alaskans) and other junior faculty members committed to eradicating racial disparities, in core fields in the arts and sciences. Career Enhancement Fellowships aim to enhance the scholarly research and intellectual growth of the fellows, thereby enhancing their chances for success as tenured university scholars. This program aims to advance the research programs of early career STEM faculty by boosting their research productivity and accelerating their ability to attract significant external funding. All untenured tenure-track junior faculty who have a promising and innovative research program in the life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics or engineering are eliglible. This year the program will fund five (5) one-year awards of $50,000. Application forms, guidelines and additional information may be accessed here. Deadline: January 5, 2015
Scholar Incentive Awards
The purpose of Scholar Incentive Awards is to facilitate bona fide and documented scholarly research. Scholar Incentive Awards of not less than one semester nor more than one year are available to full-time personnel in the following titles: Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Instructor, Lecturer, University Professor, and Distinguished Professor. The amount of the award may be up to 25% of the candidate's annual salary. Candidates must have completed not less than one full year of continuous paid full-time service with CUNY before becoming eligible for a Scholar Incentive Award. A Scholar Incentive Award may not be held concurrently with a Fellowship Leave. Applications may be downloaded from the Human Resources Forms website (look under Applications). The Faculty Fellowship Publication Program (FFPP) assists full-time untenured CUNY Assistant Professors in the design and execution of writing projects essential to progress toward tenure. These projects may include scholarly articles for juried journals and books for academic presses. The program proivdes 3 credit hours of course release time for the spring semester, a discipline-based writing group and the guidance of a senior faculty member. This year's program is limited to faculty from the following disciplines: Ethnic and Gender Studies, English, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. Applications are due October 24, 2014. CUNY Diversity Projects Development Fund
The CUNY Diversity Projects Development Fund supports scholarly research projects and other educational activities for or about populations that are traditionally under-represented within higher education. The purpose of the Fund is to assist in the development of educational projects, scholarly research, creative endeavors, and professional activities which promote diversity, multiculturalism, affirmative action, and non-discrimination on the basis of the following categories: race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender status, disability, genetic predisposition or carrier status, alienage or citizenship, veteran or marital status. The Hunter College Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation (AEC) accepts applications for college-related projects or activities that will benefit the Hunter College community. AEC funding is available for community activities, departmental projects, and academically-based activities. Please see the AEC website for additional information and application guidelines.
CUNY Collaborative Incentive Research Grant Program
The purpose of the CUNY Collaborative Incentive Research Grants Program is to enhance the prestige and prominence of the University to a national and international audience through multi-campus or multi-disciplinary collaborations. A major goal of the program is to seed research that will become the basis of new external grant proposals.
Faculty and staff are invited to advise the staff of the Office of Research Administration of their interests so that they may direct announcements that come through the office to appropriate persons.
