Why is it important for you to work in a laboratory before you graduate?

There are several benefits:

• Getting the experience to help you decide what you like doing
• Obtaining credit for class
• Obtaining letter(s) of recommendation
• Obtain a new skill set
• It looks good on your resume
• You will become familiar with laboratory experience
• Graduate schools look for students who have laboratory experience (Although you might think that it’s not necessary, it actually helps them make the decision of accepting you)
• It may be beneficial for you to explore laboratory work that you are unfamiliar with, but that you may find enjoyable after the experience.
