Important Notice
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program currently operates via a consortium arrangement among the Graduate Center of CUNY (the degree-granting institution) and the College of Staten Island and Hunter College campus programs. We are beginning a transition whereby the College of Staten Island and Hunter College will each assume degree-granting authority. The first step in the transition will take place at Hunter College. On July 16, 2012, the Board of Regents of the New York State Education Department granted approval for Hunter College to grant the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. This will become effective for students enrolled in the Class of 2016 (beginning June 2013). The second step of the transition will occur when College of Staten Island assumes degree-granting authority for students applying for admission to the Class of 2017 (beginning Fall 2014). The following application processes are in place for the current admission cycle:
TO APPLY FOR THE DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM AT THE COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND FOR AUGUST 2014: The application will be available on-line at the College of Staten Island Graduate Admissions Office at http://www.csi.cuny.edu/admissions/grad/ on or about June 1, 2013. The deadline for application is November 1, 2013. IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR THE DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM AT HUNTER COLLEGE FOR JUNE 2014: The Hunter College Graduate Admissions will administer your application for admission into this new class. The application is available on-line at http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/graduateadmissions. The deadline for submitting your application online is November 1st. Please continue reading this page and other pages for more information about the transition and the application process. The online application is only available under "Fall", there is no summer application pull down menu. Apply to the DPT program under this Fall menu. Yes, we will begin the program in the Summer of 2014.
PLEASE NOTE: THE PRE-REQUISITE COURSES, GRE REQUIREMENT, CPR REQUIREMENT, AND CLINICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS HAVE NOT CHANGED FOR APPLICATION TO THE DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY, REGARDLESS OF THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS. The online application for the Hunter College DPT program is available through the Hunter College Graduate Admissions website. You must apply online, paper applications are not available. In addition to the online application, you should:
1. Submit your Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores from Educational Testing Service to Hunter College #2301.
2. You do not need to submit official transcripts until we request them. However, you should submit electronically either a student copy of all college transcript(s) (or scan an official copy) and submit it electronically to the Hunter College Graduate Admissions Office.
3. Either you or the person supervising your clinical experience may submit your completed Clinical Experience Forms to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Hunter College, ATTN Mrs. Cleary, 425 East 25th Street, New York, NY 10010. If someone else is submitting the form on your behalf, it is often helpful to provide them with a stamped envelope printed with this address.
4. Prepare a draft of your prerequisite checklist for input into the Graduate Application at the time you apply. This information is part of the online application and must be entered online as a component of your application.
Please note, your letters of reference (including letters (not clinical experience forms) from supervising physical therapists) will be uploaded by the person doing the referral through the on-line application process. Proof of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation will be required if you are invited for an interview.
To summarize, Hunter College is now administering your application for admission into the class of students based at Hunter College beginning in June 2013. Transcripts should be submitted electronically as scanned PDF files or student versions of your transcripts. Official transcripts will be requested of applicants who have been interviewed and are being listed for potential acceptance. Please be advised that the application materials should not be sent to Graduate Center of CUNY if you are interested in applying to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Hunter College.

Acceptance into the DPT Program
Enrollment in the DPT program is currently capped at twenty-eight (28) students per year, making the admissions process extremely competitive.
An interview is required as the final step for admission.
