Post Professional DPT degree for graduates of our BS and MPT curriculum
We are not offering a post-professional DPT degree in conjunction with the Graduate Center of CUNY. There are a variety of education institutions offering a post-professional DPT program.
In order to assist our graduates in meeting the needs of the physical therapy profession and for graduates who wish to upgrade to a post professional DPT degree, we have developed agreements with some providers of this type of further education. We have not evaluated their curriculum or their faculty, which is the sole responsibility of those seeking to enroll in their or other PPDPT Degree programs. The following agreements are presently available:
1. A pathway has been established with Des Moines University (DMU) whereby graduates of our MPT program who meet their admission requirements
- will have the DMU application fee waived,
- will have the DMU PPDT 1608 (Clinical Medicine) course waived, and
- will have the DMU PPDT 1605 (Clinical Imaging & Pharmacology) course waived.
Students will then be required to complete the remaining 18 credits to earn a degree from DMU.
2. An agreement has been established with Stony Brook University's on-site evening and weekend program whereby graduates of our MPT program who meet their admission requirements
- will have the SBU HAY 529 (Principles in Pharmacology) course waived,
- will have the SBU HAY 530 (Differential Diagnosis) course waived, and
- will have the SBU HAY 551 (Research Design) course waived.
Students will then be required to complete the remaining 20 credits (5 core courses and 3 elective courses) to earn a degree from SBU.
The National Physical Therapy Examination
The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy is the organization that produces and distributes the licensing examination for all Physical Therapists. Information about the content of the exam is provided in booklets distributed each year to students in the final year of the program when the application forms for the exam and New York State licensure applications are distributed. You can also obtain information about the content of the exam, purchase a sample review copy of the exam, and review other information about the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy on their web site.

Instructions for Applying for the Licensure Examination in New York State
All forms and instructions are distributed to students in the Fall semester of their last year. Some aspects of registering for the licensing examination must be done online. A summary page of the process can be downloaded here.
