Public health professionals work to improve the health and well-being of entire communities. Whereas a clinical health professional might treat an elderly diabetic patient, a public health professional works to understand and reduce a particular community's elevated risk for diabetes.
Part of Hunter's School of Urban Public Health UPH), students in the Public Health (PH) Program study to develop the skills needed to be able to effectively answer a vast array of public health questions regarding disease, violence, and healthcare, through a social justice lens. As of Fall 2020, the major name will change to Public Health with Fall 2020 shown under 'PH' on the CunyFirst online course schedule. Spring 2020 courses are listed under 'PH-Comhe'
The Public Program offers a BS in Public Health and a Minor in Public Health.
