Public Safety Personnel are Essential
It is the policy of the Department of Public Safety at Hunter College that its officers are considered “essential” and needed to fulfill their assigned duties to ensure that critical services will be on hand during any type of emergency
The term "Essential Employee" stipulates that an essential employee is one who is an employee of Hunter College who has been designated as vital to the operation of the facility, whose presence is required regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, and whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and well-being of the campus population and/or physical plant".
