A Hunter SEEK Alumna, Ms. Granizo Cruz earned her B.A. in psychology from Hunter College. She obtained her M.S.W. through the Mental Hygiene Training Program at Hunter College School of Social Work. Prior to joining the faculty at Hunter College she provided individual, group and family therapy to severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents at the Puerto Rican Family Institute, Inc. in New York City.
Counseling/Teaching
Ms. Sandra Granizo Cruz offers academic and personal counseling to students enrolled in the SEEK Department. She teaches an Orientation for Success course that familiarizes freshmen with the college and all of its resources. The course emphasizes adjustment to college, personal growth, and the development of academic skills.
Service
Ms. Granizo Cruz serves as a member of the Hunter College Senate Select Committee on the First Year Experience. Additionally, she serves as one of two SEEK representatives on the Provost’s Summer Advantage Planning Committee. She is the Coordinator of Freshmen Recruitment and Enrollment in the SEEK Department, the Faculty Advisor to the Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honors Society, Epsilon Alpha Chapter at Hunter College, and she coordinates several student-centered programs on behalf of the department, such as the Freshmen Orientation and Honors Day.
