Field experiences are provided throughout the program. As a requirement of each course, candidates apply the leadership skills and theory learned during the program to the field.

The internship, which is taken in the last semester of the program, is the most intensive field experience. Candidates, in consultation with their supervisor, prepare a contract of activities that they will complete at a school and district site of their choice. Candidates perform leadership tasks, under the supervision of a Hunter College faculty member. A faculty member visits students twice during the fieldwork experience to observe their performance of administrative and supervisory activities, and to provide feedback and support.
