School Counselors provide counseling and consulting services to students and their families as well as other members of the school community. Issues that may be addressed includeadjustment and coping with personal issues; academic and career advisement; orientation ofnew or prospective students; assessment of interests, aptitudes, and challenges; facilitating transition from school to adult life; and advocacy. School counselors are prepared to work in schools K-12 and in college settings. They may also be employed in other settings such as correctional facilities, hospitals, and community organizations.
