Overview

The Advanced Certificate in Orientation and Mobility program focuses on preparing Orientation and Mobility Specialists to serve in educational programs for infants, toddlers, children and youths, and adults who are blind and visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities. Emphasis is on the development of knowledge and skills through course work and internship experiences in the field of blindness and visual impairment. Graduates of this program will be eligible to obtain national certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals as Orientation and Mobility Specialists. Applicants must have a master’s degree in rehabilitation teaching or in teaching the blind and visually impaired.
