These graduate programs prepare students to teach in early childhood special education environments, including early intervention, self-contained and inclusion settings. Graduates from the severe/multiple disabilities program will be able to serve in such roles as specialized teachers of learners with severe disabilities, including deafblindness; inclusion support providers; and as collaborative team teachers with general education teachers in public and private schools, private agencies, hospitals and clinics. For those who do not already hold NYS certification in Early Childhood Education, these programs lead to dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2. We offer a separate program that focuses on severe and multiple disabilities, which also leads an additional certification in Severe/Multiple Disabilities Extension Annotation. Both programs offer several tracks: a dual certification track for those with no NYS certification in Early Childhood Education; a track for those with Early Childhood Education certification; and a track for those with any other NYS certification.
