How to Apply

Application Process

Students interested in NYC MEN TEACH must meet the following requirements to gain admission in the program.  Students can apply under two categories: a) Pipeline, b) Program

Pipeline  

The pipeline is for students with fewer than 45 credits and/or a minimum GPA requirement of 2.75.  The pipeline category will support non-teacher education students with the admission process for the School of Education.

Pipeline Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled CUNY Student
  • Fewer than 45 credits completed
  • Any major (not just a teacher education program) 
  • Intent to pursue first, initial certification 
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 
  • Interest in working/teaching in high-needs urban school district 

Program

Students in the program category are currently enrolled in a teacher education program or are intending to enroll in a teacher education program at the School of Education.  Students must have completed 45 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  The program category will support non-teacher education students with the admission process for the School of Education.

Program Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled CUNY Student
  • Enrolled or intending to enroll in teacher education program
  • Minimum of 45 credits completed (undergrad) or currently enrolled in graduate teacher education program
  • Pursuing or intent to pursue first, initial certification
  • Academically qualified with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and currently in good academic standing
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in urban communities
  • Future commitment to working/teaching in high-needs urban school district

Both categories require a letter of recommendation, and an essay.

The priority deadline for Fall 2017 is June 2, 2017

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.  Students can expect a decision by early March after their applications have been processed and reviewed.
