Course of Study

Six Semester Sequence:

Semester 1

  • ECF 200: Human Development and Theories of Learning, Birth to Age 8 (Fieldwork 20 hrs) (3 credits)
  • ECC 300: Early Childhood Programs and Curricular Frameworks (3 credits)
  • ECF 201: Social and Historical Foundations of Early Childhood Care and Education (2 credits)

Semester 2

  • ECC 305: Language and Literacy for Children of Diverse Backgrounds, Birth through PreK (3 credits)
  • ECC 304: Creative Arts and Play-based Learning (2 credits)
  • ECC 301: Field work/internship I (50 hours) (1 credit)

Semester 3

  • ECC 306: Language and Literacy for Children of Diverse Backgrounds, K-2nd Grade (3 Credits)
  • ECC 308: Inclusionary Practices and Teaching Children of Diverse Backgrounds (3 credits)
  • ECC 302: Field work/internship II (50 hours) (1 credit)

Semester 4

  • ECC 311: Early Childhood Science and Inquiry-based Learning (2 credits)
  • ECC 310: Mathematics in Early Childhood, Birth through 2nd Grade (3 credits)
  • ECC 303: Field work/internship III (50 hours) (1 credit)

Semester 5

  • ECC 314: Health, Family, and Community Partnerships (3 credits)
  • ECF 400: Assessments in Early Childhood  (3 credits)

Semester 6

  • ECC 401: Student teaching (a minimum of 60 days/One Semester) (3 credits)
