You
may complete the requirements for Introductory Food Science and Introductory
Nutrition on a "self-study" basis. To complete the self-study,
you must pick up a self-study packet from the NFS second degree coordinator's
office, Brookdale Center, Room 1022.
You
must then purchase the textbook(s), study the course material on your
own, and take a multiple-choice "challenge exam" in lieu
of taking the course. Challenge exams are given in May, July, and
December. You must earn a grade of "80" or above to be given
credit for having completed the course. A fee of $100.00 is required
for each challenge exam you take. Only certified check or money order
will be accepted.
Please
call for information about the Introductory Food Science and
Introductory Nutrition instructions.
Whether
these self-study courses will be accepted at other institutions must
be determined on a case by case basis by that institution.
