Becoming Excellent Students in Transition to Nursing (BEST)

Eligibility Requirements


In order to be eligible for funding through the BEST program, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
• Be matriculated and enrolled Full-Time at Hunter College
• Taking prerequisite courses for the nursing major or being an accepted Nursing Major
• Complete the 2007-2008 FAFSA
• Minimum GPA 3.0
• Have unmet financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
• Meet the definition of individuals from the following:

a. Under-represented minority groups: American Indian or Alaskan Native,
Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian, other
Pacific Islander, Asian* (Excluding Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean,
Asian Indian, or Thai)

b. Disadvantaged: Graduate of an educationally disadvantaged high school.

c. First-generation immigrant (Foreign Born)
*(Excluding Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Asian Indian, or Thai)
