Programs for Core Curriculum Students:

A central component of the BEST Program targets Core Curriculum students, enrolled at Hunter College, interested in applying to the School of Nursing. BEST Program activities and support are geared towards increasing their chance of successful admission to the major. In partnership with other campus student support services, the program offers incoming students an array of workshops on college-survival skills such as time and stress management and test taking strategies. Program tutors assist students in the science and math courses that are prerequisites for the Nursing major. The School of Nursing is a highly selective program within Hunter College with a large number of applicants every year. The additional counseling and advising offered by the BEST Program help students to boost their qualifications for admissions.

All Core Curriculum BEST Program students take a diagnostic Nursing Entrance Test in the fall semester. Results from this exam are reviewed to indicate areas that may need remediation or additional support before taking the NLN Pre-Admission Exam required of all School of Nursing applicants. By targeting student preparation to areas of demonstrated weakness, the program strives to raise the eventual test score of the students and increase their chance of admission to the Nursing major.

If you have been accepted into the BEST Program, please download and print the following forms for use throughout the semester:
