Challenge Exams

You have the option of completing the Hunter college requirements for NFS 131 as well as NFS 141 on a "self-study" basis. To complete the self-study, purchase the course textbooks, study the material independently, and complete the "challenge exam" (administered in May, August, and December) with a grade of 80% or above. Each exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions.  You do not have to be a registered Hunter College student to take this exam. If you pass, you will receive a letter stating that you have cleared the exam and that you can take other courses for which this course was a pre-requisite. These courses will not appear up on your Hunter transcript. Inform Dr. Navder (212) 481-5118  or knavder@hunter.cuny.edu that you wish to take the Challenge Exam, and arrange for the exact date, time, and location of the test.  There is a $100 fee for each exam you take.  Please bring with you on the day you take the challenge exam a check for $100.00 made payable to “Hunter College Nutrition and Food Science.”
