Graduate Center, City University of New York

The purpose of this ethnographic study is to develop a narrative about the experience with an alternatives-to-incarceration program for young people who might have gone to jail instead.  This study will construct a theoretical framework for understanding how young people involved in the criminal justice system navigate their social worlds, and it will examine the role of a particular institution that offers support to individuals with criminal justice involvement, and to what extent people use such institutions to improve their criminal justice outcomes and stay out of jail.

Role:  Principal Investigator
