Field Placement Information

All students complete 8 credits of fieldwork. The Comhe undergraduate faculty fieldwork coordinator is Megha Ramaswamy. The coordinator may assist the student in locating an appropriate fieldwork opportunity or the student may design their own fieldwork if it conforms to the fieldwork requirements. Fieldwork opportunities are also announced via the UPH comhe-l listserv (see UPH hompage.)

The major requirement of fieldwork is a journal which each student keeps for the duration of the semester.  By recording events and impressions, students can see the evolution of their role within an organization as well as their personal growth.  ALL WRITTEN MATERIAL IS KEPT IN THE STRICTEST CONFIDENCE BETWEEN THE STUDENT AND THE FACULTY MEMBER.

Students registered for fieldwork must attend two or three mandatory group meetings during the semester of registration at Brookdale.  At the meetings, students share their experiences with one another and help in the process of letting their classmates learn about potential field placements.
