Certificate in Bioterrorism Preparedness for Laboratory & Safety Professionals

Course Description

The Bioterrorism Preparedness Program was created by the Hunter College Medical Laboratory Science and Environmental and Occupational Sciences-UPH Programs for laboratory and safety professionals. This specialized program is offered as a continuing education course of study in which eligible participants may enroll in individual courses

-OR-

complete the entire sequence to obtain a Certificate in Bioterrorism Preparedness. Completed course work may later be applied to specific graduate programs in Hunter's Medical Laboratory Science and Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences with departmental approval. Must complete an application form and return with a copy of a transcript or diploma. Applicants must have a biology or chemistry background.

Application Requirements: Participants must have an educational background in Chemistry and/or Biology (see curriculum overview of this site). Students may enroll at any time, courses can be taken out of sequence. Students must complete all four courses to be eligible for the certificate.

Important Scheduling Information 2004-2005

The following courses will be next offered beginning in Fall 2005:

Pre-Microbiology Module
Biology of Microbial Weapons
Procedures and Safety Managemnt

Government & Public Health Policy and Regulations
This course will be configured as a two day conference in May 2005. Registrants will receive credit toward the certificat program in 2004-2005.
