Welcome
The
Health Professions Education Center (HPEC) supports student learning
and faculty teaching in the health professions by providing
state-of-the-art instructional media and technology, audio/visual
support, and highly specialized computer learning modules, which enrich
and enhance the curricula of the School of Nursing, School of Health
Sciences, Brookdale Center on Healthy Aging and Longevity, Center for
Occupational and Environmental Health, Center for Community and Urban
Health, and the Center for Communication Disorders.
HPEC is a unique service in that it approaches learning from a transdisciplinary perspective and aims to combine traditional approaches to teaching with media-enhanced instruction and new technologies.

Access to the largest collection of health-related videos and instructional media within CUNY
Computer-aided instruction through the use of educational software and virtual training technologies embedded in the curriculum
State board testing preparation, where students gain a mastery of their disciplines through cutting-edge software
PC labs, multimedia study-carrels, and reserve materials, including anatomical models and high resolution slides for use as visual aids
Smart classroom and audio/visual support for classes and meetings at Brookdale
Beta testing and evaluation of new instructional media, allowing us to continually update and expand our media collection with new releases
Consultation with faculty on embedding instructional technology into their syllabi to enhance the classroom learning experience, as well as into their research projects, trainings, and other activities
Development of strategic partnerships with vendors in order to provide a growing range of services to faculty, staff, and students
Development of e-learning initiatives, online testing materials, and digital content for use in the classroom
As our world becomes increasingly dependent on technology and digital content, HPEC is committed to improving the academic experience at Hunter College by helping students and faculty utilize new, innovative approaches to learning.
