All Things Research

The Office of Research and Grant Support (ORGS) was founded in 2003 by former School of Health Professions Dean, Laurie Sherwen, to provide assistance to faculty by applying and managing research projects and grants.

The ORGS strives to meet the needs of today's demanding researchers by providing critical technologies with troubleshooting support, personalized consultation, planning with knowledgeable staff, and time-tested practices for navigating the changing landscapes of grant-writing on the federal, state, city, and private levels.

In addition to helping faculty apply for external funding, the ORGS also provides faculty with internal awards for professional development, seed money for pilot projects and scholarly research, poster presentation, and preparing larger, externally funded grants and contract applications.

Sponsored in the spirit of collaborative research projects, in 2006 the ORGS launched the first annual Research Day Conference that has since taken place yearly at the Brookdale Health Professions Campus. This event showcases the work of Health Professions graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty and staff.

In 2012, the ORGS merged with the Center for Nursing Research, allowing both organizations to unify resources, becoming the destination for Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing faculty and staff interested in pursuing research.
