MPH Admission Requirements (a CEPH accredited MPH-EOHS degree)

  • 18 credits of college level science and math (Biology & Chemistry preferred)
  • Undergraduate GPA >2.75
  • GRE scores: general exam, verbal, quantitative and written. (not required if you have previously earned a Master's Degree
  • TOEFL scores required if BA/BS degree not from English speaking country.
  • 1 year experience in environmental or public health field

MS Admission Requirements (an ABET accredited MS-Industrial Hygiene degree)

  • 40 credits of college level science and math (biology, chemistry and 1 semester of college level calculus required)
  • Undergraduate GPA >2.75
  • GRE scores: general exam, verbal, quantitative and written. (not required if you have previously earned a Master's Degree
  • TOEFL scores required if BA/BS degree not from English speaking country.

A faculty committee will utilize a standardized scoring form to evaluate each applicant, based on GPA, TOEFL scores, experience and essay quality. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program, which is based, by necessity, on the limitations of space and resources. The Hunter College EOHS program is dedicated to equal opportunity for all applicants who meet admission requirements.

Application Deadlines

MPH and MS Degree
The deadline for applications is April 1 for Fall (extended to April 15, 2008) and November 1 for Spring admission. Contact Admissions or view the Hunter Admissions website for an application, finnancial aid, and other related information. Applications and support materials are to be mailed directly to Admissions. The complete application, including GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and official transcripts must be received by the deadline.

International Students & Residents/Citizens with non-US transcripts
International students submit the the application form and official transcripts a by February 1 for Fall and September 1 for Spring admission. This deadline is never extended. This allows Hunter Admissions to complete a transcript evaluation. Letters of recommendation, GRE and TOEFL scores and the Statement of Purpose may meet the respective Nov/April deadlines though early submission of a full completed application is encouraged. Contact Admissions for procedural and general admissions information. All applications and supporting materials should be mailed to Hunter Admissions.

Non-Matriculating Students (Non-Degree) (GRE not required)
Non-matriculated students may register for a maximum of 9 credits in non-matriculated status for courses listed on the schedule as "majors or dept permission". The graduate non-matriculated student application is downloadable from the Admissions website. Original transcripts are not required (photocopies accepted.). See the Admissions website (admissions.hunter.cuny.edu) for the non-degree enrollment process. Preferred deadline is 6 weeks before each semester start. International students, and residents and citizens submitting foreign transcript contact Admissions for the application deadline. View the Registrar's website for information about Registration dates for non-matrics, and the registration process. Credits earned as a non-matric are applied to the graduate degree for students accepted into the program.

Registration is contingent on space availability. Non-matriculated must receive department in order to register. Visit the UPH main webpage approximately one to two months before the start of classes for non-matric registration advisement dates and times. Registration is traditionally 10 days before the start of classes.
