Here is a hypothetical
student who graduated with a degree in the humanities. She has no un-dergraduate coursework in science and nutrition, although
she has already attained the ex-pected competencies
from courses that fulfill the standard General Education Requirements
(writing, psychology, economic, and statistics). She has decided to pursue a
career in dietet-ics and is now enrolled full-time
as a "second degree" student.
Indicated in the table
below is a sample template of the coursework required in order for her to
complete the DPD with a minimum of undergraduate work and a maximum of
graduate work that can be credited towards the MPH degree. Undergraduate
courses are italicized; graduate courses are underlined.
It would take this
minimally prepared student four years, excluding summers, to earn an MPH in
Pubic Health Nutrition and be eligible to sit for the registration
examination.
