Post Professional DPT degree for graduates of our BS and MPT curriculum
We will be unable to offer a post-professional DPT curriculum in collaboration the Graduate Center of CUNY that the Hunter College faculty consider acceptable. 

Agreements are being developed with various post-professional (transitional) DPT programs to assist our graduates in meeting the needs of the physical therapy profession and for graduate physical therapists who wish to upgrade to the DPT Degree.  The following agreements are presently available:

1.  An articulation has been established with Des Moines University (DMU)  http://www.dmu.edu/chs/ppdpt/  whereby graduates of our MPT program who meet their admission requirements:

  • will have the DMU application fee waived,
  • DMU will waive PPDT 1608 (Clinical Medicine, 3 credit hours),
  • DMU will waive PPDT 1605 (Clinical Imaging & Pharmacology (2 credit hours),
  • Students will be required to complete the remaining 18 credits to earn a degree from DMU.

2.  An agreement has been established with Stony Brook University (SBU)

an onsite evening and weekend program whereby graduates of our MPT program
who meet their admission requirements:

  •  SBU will waive HAY 529 Principles in Pharmacology (4 credits)
  •  SBU will waive HAY 530 Differential Diagnosis (3 credits)
  •  SBU will waive HAY 551 Research Design (3 credits)
  •  Students will be required to complete the remaining 20 credits, 5
          core courses and 3 elective courses, to earn a degree from SBU.
The National Physical Therapy Examination
The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy is the organization that produces and distributes the licensing examination for all Physical Therapists. Information about the content of the exam is provided in booklets distributed each year to students in the final year of the program when the application forms for the exam and New York State licensure applications are distributed. You can also obtain information about the content of the exam, purchase a sample review copy of the exam, and review other information about the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy by going to their web site: http://www.fsbpt.org/

Instructions for applying for the licensure examination in New York State:
