Benjamin B. Ringer received his B A. from Ohio University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. Since coming to Hunter, he has served as chair of the Sociology Department and executive officer of the Ph D. Program in Sociology at the Graduate Center (GSUC). He received the Hunter College Presidents Award for Excellence in Scholarship in 1990. Dr. Ringer's research interests focus on race and ethnic relations.

Publications

His major publications in the area include: We the People and Others: Duality and America's Treatment of its Racial Minorities, Race-Ethnicity and Society (with E.R. Lawless), and The Edge of Friendliness. He has also written numerous articles for scholarly journals.
