Mike Owen Benediktsson
Mike Owen Benediktsson
received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University. He joined the faculty at Hunter College as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2011. He specializes in urban and cultural sociology, and is currently working on several projects investigating the social and political implications of architecture, urban planning and design. Mike's research has been published in Social Forces and Sociological Forum. He teaches classes in urban sociology, contemporary social theory, and the sociology of the media. At Macaulay Honors College, he also teaches the Peopling of New York City, a freshman seminar investigating the roots and consequences of diversity in New York City neigborhoods.
